The Review & Features:

The first thing we like about Makita left blade circular saw is its premium features with a medium range. This saw will give you every element you need in a premium cordless circular saw with battery. And if you prefer brand value, for your kind information, Makita is the leading and one of the best brands in the saw industry

Talking about its power and blade size, it has the perfect spec (18V lithium-ion battery, 5000 RPM motor speed, 6 ½” blade size) you need to cut a straight line finely into a wood or metal. Well, that might not satisfy many people as there are more other things to consider.

One of the crucial features for you while cutting with a circular saw is its bevel settings and cutting depth. The Makita 18v circular saw has a 0-50° bevel cutting angle. The max cutting depth 2 ¼” at 90° and 1-5/8” at 45°, which we think is pretty good for a cordless circular saw.

Another top few features are: it has a great run time, brushless motor, and great sightline. This saw is not power-hungry and has an excellent battery optimization that will not run out of power within a few hours.

The combination of the brushless motor and 18v battery gives you at least 5-6 hours of consistent runtime. Besides, with its excellent sightline visibility, you will not face any hard times while cutting your desired pieces.

In terms of safety, this saw also performs like a king. The blade guard is perfectly positioned and of high quality. So, the dust or scattered pieces will not disturb you at your work. Besides, the electronic brake is safer than the mechanical brake and lets you stop the motor almost instantly.

After testing all the features and showing you the values, there are a few things that might be big things to consider for some people. Yes, we are talking about the build quality and the ergonomics of a saw. • Dual LED lights for better visibility in low lighting condition.
  • Built-in dust blower.

Bottom Line:

You may find many other circular saws in the market with a better specific feature, but considering the overall quality, performance, and brand value, Makita XSH03Z 18V LXT beats the others and becomes the best cordless circular saw.

However, if you prefer portability and want a cordless saw that weights slightly lesser than the above one, here’s another suggestion for you – Milwaukee 2730-20. Milwaukee’s cutting depth is 0.435 inches lesser than the Makita’s.

Besides, Milwaukee 2730 is highly durable and has the advanced electronic REDLINK PLUS Intelligence to maximize the performance. If you have been using Makita’s saw for a long time and wish to switch another brand, the Milwaukee 2730-20 can be you another buying option.

Why Should You Buy?

The bigger sized battery, 57° bevel cut angel, and the 5200 RPM have made the DeWalt DCS570B as our best framing saw. It also supports a 20V battery, which provides a more powerful performance, which is a must for a framing circular saw.

However, there is a lot more to talk about this tool. Let’s have a look at the other things and features below.

The Review & Features:

Apart from the power and durability, Dewalt brushless circular saw becomes topnotch for its 7¼” blade size and the 57° bevel capacity, which stops at 45° and 22.5°. The feature increases the versatility of cutting anything with this saw. Besides, its max cutting depth is 2-9/16” at 90°.

Talking about its performance, it provides you the excellent cutting experience and praiseworthy run time (330 crosscuts in 2×4). It can cut through with enough speed, even in 3/4-inch plywood.

The electronic blade brake can provide almost instant but smooth braking with enough safety. Moreover, it has a metal blade guard, which we appreciate a lot. All the other features like sightline, brushless motor, better depth adjustment – are good enough to tell DeWalt DCS570B as the best framing cordless circular saw.

Other Features:

  • LED cut-line light.
  • Fine cutting performance.
  • Includes wrench and blade.
  • 2x cross-cutting.
  • Spindle lock.
  • Good control.

Bottom Line:

After testing numerous framing saw, we didn’t find anything best than DeWalt DCS570B 20V Max XR. Here you will find everything you need a perfect cordless circular saw, and you will praise its performance and durability. And all of these costs under $200, which was somewhat like jaw-dropping.

However, just one thing we didn’t like is it’s ergonomic. But that does not mean we should eliminate DCS570B one only for this reason. For the expert ones, it won’t be much of an issue.

03. Hitachi C18DGLP4 18V – Best Cordless Circular Saw for Beginners

Our Rating:
4.9/5

Hitachi C18DGLP4 18V Cordless Lithium-Ion 6-1/2" Circular Saw with Lifetime Tool Warranty (Tool Only, No Battery)

Key Features:

  • Blade Guard : Plastic
  • Battery Included : 18V, 1.5-5.0 Ah
  • Weight (no battery) : 6.2 lbs.
  • Warranty : Lifetime
  • Blade Operation : Left

Why Should You Buy?

Things that make it the circular saw for beginners are its low weight and built-in LED spotlight, which provide excellent vision and accurate cutting. Hitachi C18DGLP4 is also extremely easy to use with the left-sided blade.

However, what about the other features? Let’s see below.

The Review & Features:

This circular saw is none other than a traditional 18v, 6½” cordless circular saw except a few changes. We were satisfied with its 4500 RPM power at such a budget price. The performance was pretty good, but the run time we got was not satisfactory to us. However, as we mention it as a beginner-friendly cordless saw, the power seems enough to us.

What we did like most is its great sightline, which will help the new or rookie users a lot. The built-in LED spotlight and electronic brake make it standalone among the other beginner and budget level cordless circular saws.

For a beginner saw user, portability is another useful feature. And this tool has caught our attention here also. The Hitachi cordless circular saw weighs only 6.2 lbs, which provides you better portability and user-friendliness.

And finally, you will get the bevel angle setting is up to 0-50° and 2-1/8″ of max cutting depth at 90°. And at 45°, the depth of cut is 1-3/4″.

Other Features:

  • Great control.
  • Dust blower.
  • Life Time Warranty.
  • 2x cross-cutting.

Bottom Line:

We have found every feature of suitable for a beginner, and we might tell this is one of the best cordless circular saws. They could make the motor brushless and improve the quality of the blade guard. But for a beginner and a budget-friendly cordless saw, these are not much of an issue.

Other Considerations:

If your budget is not so high or you are a new user and don’t want to invest a significant amount of money for the first time, you can choose from these two: Ryobi P506 ONE+ 18V and PORTER-CABLE PCC660B. Both of these tools provide the basic features of a cordless circular, sacrificing a few things.

For example, the Ryobi battery circular saw has the blade size of 5½ inches, and the max cutting depth at 90° is only 1-9/16” – which is not good at cut big pieces. Besides, the motor is not brushless, and the blade guard is of average quality. However, it is one of the lightweight cordless circular saws we have found. It only weighs 5.7 lbs, which proves excellent portability for the beginners.

On the other hand, Porter-Cable has a 20V battery and 4000 RPM, which is a good combination of delivering power. But again, you have to sacrifice quality blade guard and brushless motor here also. And the main downside of this saw is, it has no depth adjustment. A big thumbs down to the Portal Cable this time.

Above all, as we have said before, these two cordless circular saws are only for those who are a new user and searching for a budget option. So, you have to sacrifice a few things to satisfy your pocket.

Picking Up the Right Cordless Circular Saw: The Must-Have Features.

Battery Power:

As a cordless circular saw is a battery powered saw, the power and quality of the battery should be your number one concern while buying one for yourself.

It is because, the higher the battery voltage, the more powerful your saw is going to be, and it is a piece of common knowledge that a powerful saw works far better and quicker than a less-powered one. We would suggest going for a circular saw with an 18-20V battery to enjoy unparalleled service.

Also, keep an eye on the type of rechargeable battery used in the tool to ensure its efficiency. A lithium-ion cell is the best option for a cordless circular saw as the rechargeable battery is not only lightweight but also can yield a very high energy density level than other battery types to provide phenomenal services.

Another reason for suggesting a powerful lithium-ion battery is: it charges quickly and hence, gives you minimal downtime when it runs out of power.

Blade Size:

Aside from the battery power, the blade size is also an essential factor to consider while choosing the best cordless circular saw because it can significantly enhance (or, in some cases, hamper) the workability of your sawing tool.

For instance, a 7 ¼ inches blade (the most common and widely used blade size) can cut through a 2-inch piece of board or lumber at a 45-degree angle in a single pass. Whereas a 5-3/8-inch small round saw can cut down the same 2-inch board piece at a 90-degree angle in a single pass and would require two passes to cut it through at 45 degrees.

Therefore, we always recommend you to choose a blade that is 6 inches or more to score yourself the best circular saw even when it is cordless and not as powerful as an electric one.

Furthermore, it is also necessary to keep in mind that a battery-powered saw with a smaller blade size is lightweight and much easier to control. So, choose according to your preferences.

No-Load Speed or RPM:

The No-Load Speed of a cordless circular saw is counted on RMP, and the total number of RMP (revolution per second) tells how speedy the tool is and how quickly it can cut through an object. The higher the RMP rate, the more efficient and faster the saw is.

As an example, small circle saws with an RMP of less than 4000, produce mid-speed, which are great for light sawing tasks but require a large battery to back up the load speed.

On the other hand, tools of 4000+ RMP come with top speed, and when you connect a powerful battery with it, your cordless saw will slide through even a stubborn wood like a piece of cake, and thus experts suggest always to select a saw that has at least 4000 RMP.

Depth Adjustment and Bevel Setting:

The depth adjustment is also an important aspect to keep an eye on while buying the best cordless circular saw as it determines how deep your tool is going to cut through the wood or board.

For example, a saw with a large blade will only allow you to cut deep into the object, but a saw with different depth adjustments will make sure that it can cut through the wood pieces at different depths. Hence, we consider it to be a must-have feature for a circular saw.

Similarly, the bevel setting tilts the footplate and allows the blade to make beveled cuts so that you can cut through the object from different angles. A bevel setting up to 50° is enough for you to create different angles cut effortlessly.

Cutting Depth:

The cutting depth or the blade capacity of a cordless saw determines the maximum extent the blade can cut through; the larger the blade, the deeper the cut. Simple!

While a 7 ¼ inch blade can provide you 2.5 inches cut, a blade of 4 or 5 inches can cut through far less. And hence we always favor larger blades with more cutting depth (approx. 2.25-2.60 inch) for cleaner and deeper cuts.

Portability or Weight:

One of the primary purposes of buying the best portable circular saw is to able to carry it wherever you go. And that is the reason you must keep a sharp eye on the weight before buying one.  However, a heavyweight saw might not be as portable as you want it to be. From our perspective, the rechargeable saws that are not more than 7.5 lbs. are ideal because this weight not only adds to the portability but, at the same time it allows the user to use the tool effortlessly without the fear of hurting their hand. Also, a lightweight saw is easier to use when you are working at heights.

Quality of Grip/Handle:

As a circular saw is a cutting tool with a sharp blade, it can be a very dangerous tool if not handled carefully. So, an ergonomic, non-slip handle is a must for a saw to not only provide a sturdy yet comfortable grip but also to ensure the safety of the user.

Electronic Brake:

Electronic brake is an important safety feature for your circular saw; when you let go of the brake trigger, it reverses the flow of electricity in the saw motor allowing the tool to stop immediately

An electronic brake is a must-have for any saws because it stops the blade quickly (taking as little as 2 seconds) to avoid any unfortunate events.

Other Consideration:

Control: The position of the controls is essential for the convenient operation of the tool. It’s never a good option if you have to overreach or cross your hands to control the machine; it’s not only disturbing but also cuts out your efficiency.

Blade Guard: If you want to keep yourself as well as the tools blade safe, then don’t forget to look for a blade guard- the guard covers the blade when the saw is not in use to keep away dust and other factors that might cause rusting at bay.

Foot Plate: Never forget to look for a footplate in your saw if you want it to deliver precise controls and straighter cuts.

Spindle or shaft locks: Look for spindle or shaft locks in your rechargeable circular saw as they make it more convenient and effortless to change the blade of your tool (by immobilizing the shaft and blade).

Sightline: It all goes in vain when the tool feels good in your hand, or you get adequate run time, but you cannot see what you are doing as the below-average sightline quality of your saw. However, your productivity and confidence go up when you can accurately see the blade through our line. So, sightline should be another consideration.

Run Time: The run time of a rechargeable circular saw depends on the battery it uses. So, use a battery that holds power for long to enjoy an uninterrupted cutting experience.

Motors: Brush-less motors do an impressive job at using the full competence of their battery pack with the most cuts per watt-hour than the DC/brushed motors do. Besides, Ac or brush-less motors produce very low noise while operating – which can be a favorable consideration for some people.

What is Cordless Circular Saw?

A cordless circular saw is a tool with a single large circular blade that can give you a maximum of 2 inches cut. The blade has robust housing with all necessary safety and precise cutting features. Cordless circular saw means the saw machine comes with a battery.

Why Do You Need Cordless Circular Saw?

Let’s say you don’t have a circular saw. Some might even argue that a miter saw is better than a circular saw. Agreeing with the argument, we want to ask, what will you do in case the piece is 12 feet long or more?

There are no tools that can give you long straight cut precisely except a circular saw. A jigsaw might give you a long cut, but precision won’t be there. However, the cord of a circular saw can hamper your workflow. So, the best solution here is the cordless circular saw. It will give you the benefits of a corded circular saw along with portability.

How Does a Cordless Circular Saw Work?

The working principle of both corded and cordless is the same. If you have already seen the tool, you will notice it as an independent tool with one large blade and two handles. What we mean by the independent tool is, it is not fixed on a point and can move freely along a line.

So, the piece you want to cut will remain static, and the saw moves along the cutting line. On one handle, you will see a power button. The other handle will give you strength, stability, and control over the tool.

With its depth adjustment lever and angle-cut feature, you will be able to make custom cuts. So, mark on a job, adjust the depth and angel, power it on, carefully place on the mark, and push forward along line gently. And this is how a circular saw cuts a wood or metal piece.

Tips for beginners – Things you should consider:

  • Make sure the pieces have support so that free-falling after the cut won’t harm you.
  • Don’t start cutting until the blade is rotating at full speed.
  • Don’t pull out from the wooden piece until the blade becomes entirely stopped.
  • Make the cuts adjusting the depth according to the cutting piece.
  • Choose the blades, and its teeth count according to the material you want to cut.

Final Verdict:

All our efforts are to help you buy the best cordless circular saw. So, make a detailed plan for your project and purchase the tools accordingly. Before you go, you should know cordless circular saws are for lightweight jobs. You will need a corded saw when the cuts require more power.
